Creating a space for meaningful dialogue and heartfelt expression is the foundation of effective family therapy. This experiential workshop, led by Jonah Green, LCSW-C, with decades of experience practicing, supervising, and training, offers tools and strategies to:

  • Build rapport and create emotional safety for all family members.

  • Transform conflict into opportunities for understanding through reframing.

  • Enhance empathy and perspective-taking with powerful relational questioning.

  • Promote engagement through enactments and experiential activities.

This workshop provides practical strategies for generating collaborative dialogue, including allying with each family member and relationship, maintaining emotional safety, focusing on strengths and solutions, and using enactments to deepen interactions. Attendees will participate in exercises to practice these techniques and leave with actionable tools to transform their practice.

This course blends theory, clinical vignettes, and hands-on practice. Participants at any practice stage will gain practical skills to foster meaningful interactions and enhance family relationships.

Workshop Objectives:

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Name three strategies for effective family engagement.
  2. Name three reframing strategies that help develop collaborative conversations.
  3. Name three strategies for focusing the family on strengths and solutions.
  4. Name three examples of relational questioning.
  5. Explain how to sustain, encourage, and direct enactments and other interactive activities.
