This presentation will be an intro to the treatment of OCD. It will include: 1) neurobiology of OCD/medications, why talk therapy doesn’t work, cognitive therapy for OCD, and understanding exposure/response prevention. The objectives will be to 1) understand the neurobiology of OCD; 2) gain some cognitive strategies for OCD treatment; and, 3) understand exposure/response prevention and why it’s effective.

Susan Osofsky, LCSW is in private practice in Richmond, VA, specializing in the treatment of anxiety disorders and OCD. She also provides consultation to other therapists. For the past 7 years, she has been an Adjunct Instructor for the University of New England Online Graduate School of Social Work where she teaches higher level clinical courses. She is also on the faculty of The Ferentz Institute in Baltimore, MD where she provides workshops on the treatment of anxiety and OCD. Susan is a dynamic speaker who uses humor, case examples, and experiential activities to complement her presentations.
