Workshop Description: 

Who doesn’t struggle with anxiety at least some of the time? In this workshop, clinicians will be given ready-to-use tools to help clients when anxiety is getting in their way. It will present effective techniques from the mindfulness-based “third wave” of cognitive behavioral therapies for addressing anxiety-related problems.

Workshop Objectives: By the conclusion of the presentation, participants will be able to: 

  1. Discuss the relevance of acceptance and mindfulness to anxiety treatment.
  2. Understand techniques for “defusing” from anxious thoughts.
  3. Help clients increase focus on meaningful behavior vs. anxious sensations.
  4. Help clients develop a "Willingness Action Plan" for anxious situations.
Specific Agenda:
  • 12:00 – Introductions and assessment of audience experience & objectives 
  • 12:15 -- Presentation of content 
  • 1:00 -- Experiential exercise 
  • 1:10 – Conclusion and summary of how clinicians could workshop ideas/skills in their practices 
  • 1:20 -- Q and A
