Movie:  Charlottesville: Race and Terror

Due to overwhelming member demand, we are holding two more screenings and post-screening discussions of the Vice documentary titled Charlottesville: Race and Terror. Once again, GWSCSW member Amy Johnson has graciously volunteered to moderate the discussion.

30 minute documentary and 90 minutes of discussion

Members attending this movie discuss the following topics:

  • language; what is the power of language and how do we interpret meaning 
  • does seeing violence and abuse change ones perspective thoughts on working with racist (homophobic, anti-semetic, ect) clients 
  • thoughts on trauma in society after viewing the documentary
  • how do we incorporate self-care at times of heightened stress
