Our Society needs YOU to help us advocate and impact legislators in many different ways, or our messages simply will not get out.

Please join us at our annual FREE lunch on October 1, 2017, at Maggiano’s in Friendship Heights, DC, 12:30-3:30. Our theme this year, essentially, is THINK GLOBALLY, ACT LOCALLY.

Sue Rowland (our Virginia Lobbyist), Pam Metz Kasemeyer (our Maryland Lobbyist), and Margot Aronson (our DC Chair), discuss how National politics are affecting our state and local legislatures and how we can still effectively advocate for the needs of our clients and for our profession. They will inform us about current issues in each jurisdiction and how you can participate to support our Society, your profession and your principles. Your ideas and questions will be a part of a stimulating conversation about the upcoming legislative sessions.

In case you need more information to motivate you, the chart from the Center for American Progress below tells us how many individuals would lose health insurance coverage in our country should the Graham-Cassidy bill become law, by State. In the DMV alone, over 1,330,000 would lose coverage. And on Meet the Press today, there was discussion how, if that fails, Trump may do as much as he can by executive order to limit ACA provisions. So we really need to support our local legislators efforts to do as much as they can to mitigate that on a state-by-state basis.
