DC Social Work Board Tables
proposed LISW License change!
GWSCSW and NASW-Metro participated actively in the thoughtful (and lengthy!)
discussions of the proposed LISW amendment at the DC Social Work Board meetings,
and the Board agreed on February 14 to table the proposal to expand the LISW
scope of practice. See Proposed Change to DC Social Work Licensing Law,
below, and the March GWSCSW newsletter for more information.
Change in Oversight for DC Social Work Board
The DC Social Work Board has been removed from Councilman David Catania’s
Committee on Health, which has oversight on all the other professional licensing
boards. Instead, the Social Work Board will answer to the Committee on Human
Resources, headed by newly-elected Councilmember Tommy Wells (Ward 6), who is
himself a social worker (and a lawyer).
GWSCSW will work with NASW-Metro to monitor this change.
