The Maryland Legislative Task Force on Provider
Reimbursement and Access to Treatment is charged with determining whether
inadequate reimbursement by private insurance companies and HMOs is causing
inadequate accessibility of quality health care in Maryland.
In order to provide the Task Force with data on whether (and/or how) declining
rates of insurance reimbursement may have affected the willingness of LCSW-Cs in
group and private practices to treat the insured. To that end, the Greater
Washington and Maryland Societies have created a preliminary, exploratory
survey, to compile for use in discussions at Task Force meetings.
All responses are encrypted and the data will be aggregated, so that privacy is
assured. If you are a Maryland LCSW-C, we ask you to take a few moments to
participate in the survey.

Would you like to see changes in
the managed care/insurance status quo?
We are collecting stories:
-
have your clients had difficulty
getting access to their mental health insurance benefits or finding that their
benefits don't cover needs?
-
have any of your clients felt forced
to give up insurance coverage in order to qualify for housing or rehabilitative
services not available to anyone with private insurance (even when the insurance
doesn't cover those services, or has run out after a certain number of sessions)
-
have you had difficulty making a
referral to a psychiatrist or other mental health professional who's both
in-network and accepting new clients?
-
have you dropped out of the
networks? Why?
