GWSCSW Member's Pre-Paid Legal Plan

The Plan

Recognizing the need for expert advice when legal questions arise, GWSCSW offers a Pre-paid Legal Plan to help you in your clinical practice. The plan will enable you to get legal advice quickly, easily and affordably, with the services of a team of skilled professionals serving as your representatives. We have retained the law firm of Shulman Rogers Gandal Pordy & Ecker, P.A., with lawyers licensed in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Our legal plan provides legal advice and representation to members of the Greater Washington Society for Clinical Social Work in the basic areas of the law which affect all of us: subpoenas, duty to warn, recordkeeping, expert witness testimony, abuse reporting requirements, client confidentiality, licensing board issues, managed care issues, or peer review issues.

This plan covers consultation related to and arising out of the subscriber's practice of clinical social work and includes up to two (2) hours of legal consultation during the subscriber's year of coverage under the plan. The law firm will track consultation time in intervals of quarter-hours for the attorney's time. After the initial two hours have been used up, legal services are available at the attorney's usual fee by Shulman Rogers Gandal Pordy & Ecker, P.A. Necessary and reasonable expenses are extra.

Legally Speaking

In previous years, applications for subscription to the Pre-Paid Legal Plan with the law firm of Shulman Rogers were ordinarily sent with membership applications. This year, when you pay Membership dues, you may also opt to pay for the Pre-Paid Legal Plan.
Note: You must have paid the Pre-Paid Legal fee by the end of the year in order to have the plan applied to the following year.

Kim Viti Fiorentino, Esq. and Heather Howard, Esq. will be the attorneys working with GWSCSW members.

  • The Plan year runs from January 1 to December 31.
  • Cost is $125, which covers two hours of legal services.
  • You can pay for your Legal Plan online when you pay your dues, as long as they are paid before December 31st.
  • If dues are already paid for the next year, the plan can be purchased separately through the Legal Plan tab in the Member Area.

Note: Any consultation beyond the two hours will be at the attorney's usual fee, and will be negotiated between the subscriber and the attorney.

For more information, call the Society's office at (202) 537-0007 or email us by using the Contact form.
